PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a sodium-sulfur battery which can improve reliability by increasing bonding strength of a bonding part. SOLUTION: In this method of manufacture, anα-alumina ring 2 is glass solder bonded to an opening part of a solid electrolyte pipe 1, a cathode cover 3 is thermocompression-bonded to one surface of thisα-alumina ring 2, an anode cover 4 is thermocompression-bonded to the other surface. Here, theα-alumina ring 2 is immersed in a solution containing hydrofluoric acid, after forming a removal layer 13 removing silicon dioxide in a surface, an aluminum layer 12 or an alloy layer mainly composed of aluminum is interposed, the cathode cover 3 and the anode cover 4 are thermocompressorn-bonded.
