Data arrives on parallel electrical lines (11) together with a clock signal for the data bits on another parallel line (13). Data on the various lines are scrambled, by being delivered to one input of XOR-gates (25) and a random number sequence from a random number generator (23) delivered to the other input thereof. The signals thus generated and coded are shaped in flip-flops (27) and are therefrom provided to transmitting elements (3) for being issued on parallel lines (1), for example individual optical fibers. The information on the parallel transmission lines (1) arrives to receiver elements (7) and is decoded by being provided to XOR-gates (20), to the other input of which the random number sequence is fed that has been transmitted on one of the transmission links (1). The decoded pulse signals are uniformly shaped in flip-flops (33) to the other input of which a regenerated clock signal is fed that has been obtained from a clock extraction circuit (25). By using such a scrambling and descrambling process in the transmission, AC-coupled circuits can be used in the receiver elements (7) which results in high security in the transmission.
|
