<p>Methods for cancer chemosensitization are provided. Texaphyrins are new chemosensitizers for enhancing the cytotoxicity of chemotherapeutic agents. The enhancement appears to be P-glycoprotein-independent since texaphyrins are effective in both a P-glycoprotein-expressing and a P-glycoprotein-nonexpressing cell line. Methods are provided for the treatment of cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, carcinoma, and sarcoma using a texaphyrin as a chemosensitizer.</p> |
