An embossing roll (32) is formed by a process which includes moulding a seamless embossing roll (32) within a seamless sleeve (16). The sleeve has indicia disposed about the inner circumference and which is the reverse moulded into the roll. The sleeve (16) is unprinted on the outside, hardened and turned inside out, or moulded from an imprinted roller (8).
