The packaging for the transport and the storage of perishable goods, in particular foods such as fresh meat pieces (4) etc., consists of a rigid outer container (1) which can be closed on the cover-side and an inner container (3) made of flexible plastic foil for receiving the product to be transported, which container is adapted in its dimensions to the transport space in the outer container (1) and can be closed in a gastight manner. Inserted into the inner container (3) is a rigid, flat insert body (6) which can be applied to the outer container bottom, inner container foil being interposed, and corresponds at least essentially thereto in outline. The insert body (6) forms a support surface for the product to be transported, which surface is situated at a distance from the bottom surface of the outer container (1) and is interrupted by ventilation openings or ducts (7), and delimits an intermediate space (9) between its underside and the bottom region of the inner container (3), which, via passage openings (8) in the insert body (6), is connected to its upper side.
