PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the efficiency of the whole hybrid vehicle system and aim at low environmental pollution. SOLUTION: An engine 11, a generator 16 and a driving output shaft 31 are connected to the respective gear elements of a planetary gear unit 13, and a hybrid vehicle travels by the output of an electric motor 25 connected to the driving output shaft 31, and the output of the engine. A travel mode of only the electric motor 25, and a travel mode of driving the electric motor 25 and the engine 11 and transmitting a part of the output of the engine 11 to the generator 16 while transmitting the remaining output to the driving output shaft 31 are selected by a travel mode selecting means according to travel load. It is so constituted that the engine 11 is drivable always in a maximum efficiency area and that the consumption of a battery is reduced at the time of high load travel. |
