PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acrylic multi-staged polymer containing specific monomer units in a prescribed amount, excellent in hot water whitening resistance, UV light-shielding property and impact-resistant retainability, and suitable for films, etc. SOLUTION: This acrylic multi-staged polymer is produced by graft- polymerizing >=0.05wt.% of the units of a monomer of the formula (X is H, a halogen; R<1> is H, methyl, a tertiary 4-6C alkyl; R<2> is a 2-10C alkylene; R<3> is R<1> ) to a crosslinked elastomer consisting mainly of diene monomer units (e.g. 1,3-butadiene units) and/or alkyl acrylate units (e.g. methyl acrylate units). The particle diameter of the multi-staged polymer is preferably <=0.1μm.
