<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and surely judge melt-down time of charged material at the initial charging and at the additional charging into an electric furnace. SOLUTION: The judgement of the melt-down time of the raw material charged into the electric furnace 10, is executed by measuring the concn. of a prescribed component in the exhaust gas exhausted from the electric furnace 10 with a gas analyzing means 2, electric power supplied to melt the raw material with an electric power detecting means 27, the cooling water temp. of a water cooling pipe 17 arranged in the electric furnace 10 with an inlet and an outlet water thermometers 3, 4 and the temp. of a refractory arranged in the electric furnace 10 with a refractory thermometer 5. Then, values corresponding to the cooling water temp. and the refractory temp. are calculated with an arithmetic means 6, and when at least two values in the measured values and the calculated values reach each preset threshold value with a setting means 8, it is judged that the raw material is melted down with a judging means 7 and the judged result is displayed with a displaying means 9.</p> |
