PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sizing agent composition capable of providing a cellulose fiber and a chemical fiber with sufficient tension even in low concentration and not leaving the sizing agent during washing by blending a water-dispersible cationic sizing agent with a water-dispersible weakly anionic sizing agent. SOLUTION: A water-dispersible cationic sizing agent A is a sizing agent selected from a polymer prepared by polymerizing a vinyl monomer such as vinyl acetate using a cationic water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid, a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a cationic monomer and a polymer obtained by polymerizing the vinyl monomer using a cationic surfactant as an emulsifying agent, preferably an emulsion of a copolymer of vinyl acetate, ethyl (meth)acrylate and a polymerizable quaternary ammonium salt such as 2-hydroxy-3-methacryloxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride. A water-dispersible anionic sizing agent B is selected from a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing the vinyl monomer with an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, an anionic emulsifying agent and a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing the vinyl monomer with the ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid using a nonionic water-soluble polymer as a protective colloid. The water-dispersible anionic sizing agent A is mixed with the sizing agent B in the weight ratio of 99/1-50/50 to give the objective sizing agent composition. |
