PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retracting device which can reduce power consumption and heat generation during operation, which can exhibit a predetermined known condition when a power source is abnormal and which can move a relatively large mass at a relatively high speed. SOLUTION: An actuator 10 for precisely moving a product in order to position the same, incorporates a housing 22 to which a magnet is attached. An electromagnetic coil 36 is slidably fitted in the housing 22 so as to be movable in the magnetic filed generated by the magnet. A grip 32 having a member for gripping a part is attached so as to be translationally moved together with the electromagnetic coil 36. During operation of the actuator 10, current is selectively applied to the electromagnetic coil 36. The magnetic field is generated by current running through the coil, and accordingly, the electromagnetic coil 36 and the grip attached thereto are moved in the magnetic field so that the part is located at a desired position through the translational motion. The grip 32 preferentially takes a predetermined position or a rest condition by a retracting device 50. |
