The device has a setting lever (23) which emerges from a mixer valve cartridge housing (2). There are one or more stop members (6) which project resiliently laterally into a swivel path of the setting lever to provide the resistance which is to be overcome for moving the valve. The stop members can be provided in pairs either side of the swivel path. One or more catches (231) can be formed on the setting lever and in one or more specific swivel positions adjoin the stop members. These stop members can have a resilient projection. A stop ring (3) supporting the stop members can be fitted on the cartridge housing.
