The print layer comprises a substrate of polyester, polycarbonate or aluminium covered with the processing layers. The overall thickness is less than 100 microns. The support cylinder is covered with an insulating layer eg. ceramic. The print pattern is exposed on the process layer by laser arrays eg. IR lasers with the foil secured by electrostatic force. The foil is removable and can also be held on the support cylinder by integral tension rollers or by adhesive. The process layers comprise electrically conducting layers separated by a dielectric layer. An absorbing layer, for the exposure radiation, can be included.
