The inner space of the head section (2) is built as a two-piece structure, whereby the space size of the guard room (20) and of the underlying transition room (21) has means of a slidable intermediate base (3) for the application of the rail vehicle (1) as front vehicle or coupled vehicle. The intermediate base may have, selectively, on its upper side elements of the cab (10) on the cab seat (4), whilst its lower side may have the cover (16) of the transition room.
