The invention concerns a connector (1), in particular a plug-in connector for TT and TN networks, in which an electronic monitoring and control unit (2) supplied with a voltage switches lines (8, 9, 10) through, by means of a switch (5), from the supply side (3) to the consumer side (4) of the connector, or cancels the connection, as a function of information or measured data. The invention calls for potential-measurement devices to measure line potentials continuously or regularly on the supply side (3) and/or the consumer side (4) and, if the result falls short of or exceeds given limits, the switch (5) is actuated. The invention also calls for the monitoring and control unit (2) to be designed so that it generates a report when a given number of short-term cancellations or connections are made within a given length of time, connection lines (8, 9) to be monitored by a device (12) acting on the switch (5) to detect fault currents and information and/or instruction data to be available at a bus interface (7).
