摘要 The method involves modulating, prior to transmission, each data symbol of K data sequences with a specific signal form associated with each data sequence, to form K transmission signals. A final estimate value of the data symbols is produced from the reception signal, which consists of a superimposition of the K distorted transmission signals and a, potentially appearing, noise signal. The estimate value is produced by a two-stage data detector, under application of a sub-optimal maximum likelihood (ML) estimate. The two-stage data detector consists of a sub-optimal auxiliary detection stage and a following post-detection stage based on a maximum likelihood estimate. The optimal maximum likelihood estimation in the post-detection stage is only performed on a selected record of data symbols,. As a consequence, only a respective record of the estimate values, determined in the auxiliary detection stage, is examined for agreement and changed in case of discrepancy, i.e. replaced through values based on the maximum likelihood estimate.
