Optical test for wood sample using camera and image-processing system

The test involves illumination of a site (15) on the sample (2) by three sources (12,20,25) of different wavelengths. Images are recorded simultaneously by the camera (9) which has dichroic mirrors (26,29) and a conventional mirror (33) for selective image evaluation by separate sensors (28,31,34) behind colour filters (35-37). Electrical signals from the colour sensor (28), three-dimensional sensor (31) and halation sensor (34) are combined by an image-processing computer (43) with high temporal and spatial resolution. A multidimensional feature vector having largely independent feature components is associated with each pixel.
