Process for alkyne hydrosilation using cycloalkene as catalyst modifier

A process for hydrosilation of an alkyne comprises contacting an alkyne of formula (I) with a hydridosilane of formula (II) at 40-150 [deg]C in the presence of a Pt catalyst selected from Pt halides and the reaction prod. of Pt halides with organosilicon cpds. having terminal aliphatic unsatn. and a 6-20 C cycloalkene in amt. sufficient to reduce formation of a bis-hydrosilated adduct of the alkyne. R1C=CH (I) (R2)nHSiX3-n (II) R1 = H or 1-10 C alkyl; R2 = 1-20 C alkyl and aryl; X = halogen; and n = 0 or 1.
