PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect the housing amount of a recording paper and image forming agent housed in a housing means in real time. SOLUTION: A paper supplying cassette 14 housing the recording paper P provided on this image forming and recording device is provided with a housing member 13 capable of moving up and down having a paper supplying pressure adjusting spring 15, a vibrating device 16 and a vibration detector 17 attached to the member 13; the member 13 is vibrated by the device 16 and the device 17 detects a vibrating condition, so that the amount of the paper P placed on the member 13 can be detected.
