PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an environment control device and method suitable to apply to an air conditioner to improve the quality of sleep and subjective feeling of sleep. SOLUTION: An input device 1 includes a normal input functional part 2, a hot and cold sense/comfort sense claim input part 3, a bedtime input part 4 and a getting-up time input part 5. Bedtime and getting-up time are respectively judged by a bedtime judging part 6 and a getting-up time judging part 7 and an operation pattern suitable for an individual person is decided by an operation pattern decision part 8 according to the bedtime and getting-up time. The operation pattern decided, data measured by a thermal environment measuring part 9, set personal preference data on hot and cold sense claim, air flow velocity and direction, humidity, etc., are arithmetically processed via a microcomputer 10 and a thermal environment controller 11 controls an air conditioner 12 corresponding to the results of the arithmetic processing. |
