PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink feed mechanism which can supplement ink easily and efficiently. SOLUTION: A container for an ink feed mechanism for use in an ink-jet printer is provided with a supplementation port 51, through which the container can be supplemented. A container 24 is adapted to flow the ink therefrom to a chamber 56 and can be coupled with the variable volume chamber 56 via a check valve restricting the flow of the ink from the chamber 56 to the container 24. The chamber 56 is normally coupled to a fluid exit 28 closed to obstruct the flow of the ink. However, when the ink feed mechanism 20 is set to the printer, the fluid exit 28 establishes a fluid connection between the chamber 56 and the printer. The chamber 56 is a part of a pump 26 provided with the ink feed mechanism 20 which can operate to feed the ink from the container 24 to the printer. |
