FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: steel is smelted in steel-smelting apparatus. Intermediate product is discharged into ladle whereto alloying components are added. Metal is agitated in the ladle by means of blowing an inert gas through it while heating metal with electric arc. During all metal heating period, a silicon-containing material, for instance, ferrosilicon is fed onto the smelt within arc action zone at per-minute input (Q) determined from dependence: Q = (10-1000)q, kg/t min, where q is input of inert gas, cu.m/t min. After smelt heating is stopped, smelt is blown through with neutral gas for a time period determined from relationship:. In given equations, (1--1000) is empiric coefficient reflecting degree of consuming ferrosilicon by smelt, kg/cu.m, and (0.05-0.5) is that characterizing smelt agitation degree, (min t)m. EFFECT: increased steel purity. |
