A ring (7) with its toothed fitment (10) for an opening cylinder of an open-end spinning apparatus is made as a one-piece component from a ceramic material. Preferably the ceramic material is a mixture of hard and malleable materials and the toothed fitment (10) is ground. The ring has a surface (8) on its inner circumference for radial centring and bearing surfaces (11, 12) on the axial end faces.
