PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To microbiologically recover trans 4-hydroxy-L-proline in high yield. SOLUTION: A proline-resistant mutant of Streptomyces griseoviridis IFO12874 strain is inoculated in a culture medium containing proline to collect trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline produced. Instead of the culture medium of the proline resistant mutant, its culture mixture or its cell bodies themselves or their cell- free extract may be used, too. |
