PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the relative position accuracy between a mouthpiece and a member to be coated and to greatly improve the coating accuracy on the member to be coated by disposing a positioning means for positioning the member to be coated before bringing a coating liquid discharger and the member to be coated in proximity to each other. SOLUTION: A die coater 1 which is the coating applicator used for production of color filters for color liquid crystal displays is provided with a pair of guide groove rails 4 on a base plate 2. A table 6 which is a transporting body for a glass substrate A which is the member to be coated is arranged on these rails 4. A die strut 24 having an inverted L shape is erected atop the base plate 2 so as to exist at approximately the center thereof and a lifting mechanism 26 of the mouthpiece 40 which is a coating liquid discharger is mounted at the front end of this die strut 24. The table 6 is provided with edging devices 200 for positioning the glass substrate a in the transverse direction thereof. The units of the positioning devices for the moving direction and the edging devices 200 are mounted at the table 6 in such a manner that the glass substrate A may be held from the moving direction.
