PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a freshness-keeping material capable of effectively keeping freshness of perishable foods and cut flowers and fitting to the inside of a receiving box or a container of the perishable foods or cut flowers by processing a far infrared irradiation plate to a laminated body having a specific structure. SOLUTION: This freshness-keeping material for perishable foods and cut flowers is prepared by laminating water absorbing synthetic resin sheets 2, 2' and porous film 3, 3' in this order on one side or both sides of a far infrared irradiation plate 1. As the far infrared irradiation plate, an aluminum alloy having an anodized coating on its surface is preferable. As the water absorbing synthetic resin, a high water absorbing resin obtained by cross-linking a polymer having OH and other polymers, e.g. containing anα,β-unsaturated compound having at least one COOH group or group capable of being converted to COOH group as a monomer ingredient is preferable. As the porous film, a synthetic resin film having 10-2000μm average pore size is preferable. The freshness- keeping material is used by impregnating water into the water absorbing resin sheet 2 and fitting the film inside a box 4 so as to face the foods or cut flowers.
