The printing mechanism has two possible printing clearances which can be formed between the innermost cylinders (16-19) of the printing unit (2,3). Devices (22-24) are fitted at the printing points (m,n) to specify the position of the print-carrier web. One of these may be in the vicinity of the printing clearance. It may be before or after both printing points in the paper travel direction.
