The error power signals (A,B,C,D) repeated four times are recorded so that fine defects can be recognised. The components of the bias voltage, a Gray code (10-13), the error power signals and the time intervals (PAD) are the same as normally. The disc (2) is rotated by the spindle motor (34) for magnetic storage of the data from the host computer. The heads (4) are mounted on arms stretching from a control element (6) in order to record or read the data. An automatic gain control (8) controls the amplification of the error power signals read by the head (4), under regulation by the setting unit (10).
