<p>A vehicule antitheft system (10) includes a housing (12) connectable to the casing (222) of a starter motor (208) and a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) (20) disposed in the housing. The system (20) includes a battery connector (230) which engages the starter motor power line (220) from the battery (206), and a starter connector (22) which engages the power terminal of the starter motor (208), with the SCR (20) being in electrical series between the connectors. A control circuit (24) is mounted in the housing (12), and the control circuit (24) closes the power switch (20) for a predetermined period upon receipt of an enable signal from a hand-held rf generator (26). Consequently, the vehicle can be started by turning the ignition switch only during the predetermined period.</p> |
