Telescopic safety ladder locked in extended position

The invention relates to a telescopic ladder with two lateral ladder strings which are each composed of a plurality of telescopic ladder sections consisting of hollow profiles. Rungs are arranged between opposite ladders sections and stop elements (6, 6a) are provided so that the ladder sections can be removably locked when the ladder is extended. These stop elements lock automatically and, when they are unlocked, release the ladder sections so that they can be slid together by means of a separate safety locking system by which the ladder is slid first into a safety position before it reaches its final position. In said safety position the distance between the rungs complies with the required safety standards for the hands and fingers. By manipulating the topmost elements of the ladder strings with two hands, the safety lock is released and the ladder can be slid into its transport position.
