A lubricating oil for internal combustion engines, comprising a base oil comprising a mineral oil and/or a synthetic lubricating oil and 0.005 to 0.2 % by weight, in terms of molybdenum (Mo), of molybdenum oxysulfide dithiocarbamate represented by chemical formula (1), wherein R1 or R1 and R3 represent each a branched aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 14 or more carbon atoms and R2 to R4 or R2 and R4 represent each an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 4 or more carbon atoms.
