A drafting engine for doubling and drawing sliver has a drafting mechanism (2) with lower rollers (210, 220, 230) held in dies (20) and, coordinating with the lower rollers, upper rollers (211, 221, 231) with pressure means for loading them. To apply pressure on the upper rollers are swivelling arms (4) with an axle pivot (41) which, in the direction the sliver runs, is after the drafting mechanism.
