The joint consists of two pipes with threaded outer surfaces, rounded ends. Inner surface coatings (22,23), e.g. of polyepoxide, extend over part of the rounded ends. The joint is made by screwing the threaded pipe ends into a threaded female coupling so that their ends are in contact over an outer portion (16.1,17.1) of their edges. Their surface coatings are in contact over the inner portion, shaped to form a gradually diverging gap from an inner point (16.2) outwards. The angle of taper of the gap is between 5 and 30 degrees at the initial point. |
