PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-hardness developing roller provided with an excellent contact property and constituted so that a photoreceptor or the like is not stained, a high-quality image without density irregularity or surface fogging is obtained and image quality is not deteriorated even when it is used for a long term. SOLUTION: The developing roller 1 is obtained by forming an electrical conductive elastic layer 3 on the outside circumference of a good electrical conductive shaft 2. Then, developer is carried by the surface of the layer 3 so as to form the thin Layer of the developer. In such a state, the roller 1 is brought into contact with a latent image holding body holding an electrostatic latent image on the surface or it approaches the latent image holding body so as to visualize the latent image by supplying the developer to the surface of the latent image holding body. In such a case, the surface of the layer 3 is provided with a resin component including urea resin and/or melamine resin. Besides, when the resistance of the roller which is not provided with the resin component is defined as R1 and the resistance of the roller provided with the resin component is defined as R2 , the relation of log (R2 /R1 )<=4.5 is satisfied. |
