Compact folded tubular fluorescent lamp

The lamp has a number of glass tubes, each containing a fluorescent material and mercury vapour or an inert gas, one end of the tube sealed by heating with a burner and compressing the sides together, with electrodes inserted in their opposite ends. Each of the glass tubes may be bent into a U-shape, with the adjacent tubes coupled together.
