In order to simplify the adjustment of the seat/back portion, preferably by means of only one operating body, an adjusting device is provided in which the seat portion (2) and the back portion (3) are movable in an approximately horizontal and vertical direction respectively by means of their adjusting mechanisms. The seat portion (2) and the back portion (3) are thereby connected preferably via the adjusting mechanisms (6, 8; 25).
