The print sheet (2) is passed under the print cylinder (3) and contacts the cylinder to transfer the image. The sheet lifter (6) is positioned in the space between the cylinder and the sheet feeder (1) on the output side of the print process. The leading edge of the print sheet is gripped by the movable lifter and moved towards the sheet feeder. The movement of the sheet lifter is synchronised with the print process. The sheet lifter comprises a flat strip or a wire strung between outer supports. It is moved near to the cylinder surface prior to pick up and is moved away from the cylinder before the leading edge of the sheet is picked up by the sheet feeder. Alternatively the outer edges of the sheet are gripped first.
