A material having fibers in a curable matrix is applied as a reinforcement (61) to a vertical column (20). The matrix is cured by providing a reinforcement curing apparatus (300) including a steel cylindrical housing (302) split lengthwise into at least two sections (304a, 304b), and a plurality of elongated radiant heaters (308) mounted to an interior wall of the housing (302) and oriented to direct their heat inwardly. The curing apparatus (300) is assembled around the perimeter of the column (20) having the reinforcement (61) thereon and operated to heat and cure the reinforcement (61).
