The invention relates to an automatic car park with a storage system comprising superimposed storage planes (3) which are mutually connected by vertical conveyor means and in which storage channels (4) with storage spaces and transportation lanes (9) for horizontal conveyor means are arranged, and with means for transporting the cars on a load carrier and with one or a plurality of transfer means (11) for the transfer of cars to the transporting means which are arranged at any points in the car park, and a control system comprising a car guiding system and a person guiding system for variable opening up of the car park to any means (11) for the transfer of cars to the storage system and vice versa. Each transfer means (11) can be adjusted, as required, by the control system to entry or exit operation. To obtain an automatic car park in such a manner that the means (11) for the transfer of cars to the storage system has a particularly space-saving structure and no extra transporting means are required, the transfer means (11) incorporates a transporting means for vertical transportation, and transfer and delivery of a car to/from a load carrier occurs inside the transfer means (11) which incorporates a vertical conveyor (6).
