Class 79(4) A chassis for a motor vehicle having a rear engine comprises three sections of which the first two comprise frame members fitting and welded together, one of which being a one piece pressed steel part, Fig. 1, the third section consisting of a pressed steel floor member. The unit comprising the first two sections welded together is shown in Fig. 2 and the complete chassis with the floor member in place is shown in Fig. 3. Apertures 4 in the front portion of the frame structure permit passage of suspension members and the rear suspension members are accommodated in apertured brackets 13 of the rear portion which is also provided with upswept arms 15 to support the engine. The front and rear members overlap over a portion L for joining purposes. |
