PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new octadecylureidoalkanoic acid retaining both stable coloring and discoloring property, adaptable to the wide range of use and environmental conditions, and useful as a developer for reversible thermal recording materials. SOLUTION: This compound is an octadecylureidoalkanoic acid of formula I-III. The compounds of formula I-III are each synthesized by reacting glycine, β-alanine or γ-aminobutyric acid with n-octadecylisocyanate. A reversible thermal recording medium using the compound, is constituted by setting a recording layer consisting mainly of this compound as developer and coloring agent on base material such as paper or resin film. |
