PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the aeroacoustic noise by mounting a sound absorbing material on at least one of fan blades along the rear edge of the fan blade. SOLUTION: A strip 16 of sound absorbing material is mounted along the groove edge of the fan blade 14 of a cooling fan. Particularly, the sound absorbing material 16 is preferably mounted on the high pressure side of the fan blade 14, but it may be mounted on both high pressure side and low pressure side. The sound absorbing material 16 is formed of an optional low density material, and a one formed of a small piece of felt, the loop side of a magic tape, glass fiber, or cotton or wool core is used. Thus, the aerodynamic energy is partially absorbed or dispersed, and the aeroacoustic noise generated by the fan is reduced. |
