The invention relates to a method for producing an aperture part, an actuating part or similar parts with function symbols, for illumination by transmitted light. According to the invention, a transparent support element (1) is configured in such a way that a first raised structure (7) is provided on the surface (5) of said support element within at least one predetermined area, said raised structure corresponding to the shape of at least one first function symbol (9, 11). A first, transparent, preferably temperature resistant coloured layer (13, 15) is applied to the support element (1) in a first predetermined area. The support element surface (5) with the at least one first function symbol (9, 11) is covered with a non-transparent material (17) in such a way that the surface (7a) of the first raised, layered structure (7) remains free of the non-transparent material (17), said surface running essentially parallel to the surface (5) of the support element (1). The invention also relates to a method for producing a part of this type with differently-coloured function symbols. According to this method, one or several differently-coloured function symbols are applied to a support element either next to each other or on top of each other . These coloured layers are covered with a non-transparent coloured layer and a function symbol in the desired colour is produced by means of removing all the coloured layers above the desired coloured layer in the area of the function symbol required.
