PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple wavelength multiplexed optical fiber communication system evading the limitation of the wavelength region caused by the waveform distortion due to the wavelength dependency of the dispersion of a transmission line or the limitation of a maximum transmission distance. SOLUTION: This equipment is provided with plural light sources 1 of different wavelengths, plural optical intensity modulators 3 for modulating the intensity of the light from the light sources by the data signals from a signal source 2, a wavelength multiplexor 4 for multiplexing the light from an optical modulator, an optical fiber 5 transmitting the light from the wavelength multiplexer and a wavelength multiplex optical receiver 6 for separating the light from a transmission line optical fiber for every wavelength and receiving the light. The optical intensity modulator 3 controls or selects the size of the phase modulation of the light generated at the same time when an intensity modulation is performed. As for the optical modulator 3 for each wavelength, the operating point is individually controlled and selected so as to generate a phase modulation component in which the waveform distortion becomes the smallest one after the transmission optical fiber 5 is transmitted. |
