FIELD: rare element compounds' production. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing alkali metal metaniobate and metatantalate and their solid solutions and may be used when growing monocrystals and manufacturing electrical ceramics. For this purpose, niobium or tantalum hydroxide or hydrolysable compound is treated with lithium-containing solution or suspension within pH range 3-8 maintaining Li to Nb(Ta) ratio higher that 1 followed by heat treatment of filtered off precipitate and its washing with water. Ni(Ta) hydroxide is preferably treated with lithium chloride, nitrate or sulfate in presence of lithium carbonate or hydroxide. Hydrolysable Nb(Ta) compound, in particular, chloride, oxychloride, sulfate or oxysulfate, is preferably treated with lithium carbonate or hydroxide. Fine crystalline powder of monophase product, in respect to its stoichiometric composition, corresponds to lithium metaniobate or metatantalate. EFFECT: improved procedure. 3 cl, 2 tbl |
