PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent light condensing ability of a light source by making the optical path length of both a p wave and an s wave the same in the case the p wave and the s wave of light source light are made coincident. SOLUTION: The light from a light source 1 is reflected by a reflector 2 and separated to a p wave component and an s wave component by a polarizing beam splitter(PBS) 3, and the p wave 8 is reflected and projected rightward by a reflector 4(P wave 9). By reciprocating a λ/8 phase difference plate 5 so that the plane of polarization is rotated by 90 deg. while the s wave 10 is reflected by a reflector 6, the s wave 10 is made the p wave 11, passes through the PBS 3 to be projected (p wave 12). The optical path length between the PBS 3 and the reflector 6 is set to the half of the optical path length between the PBS 3 and the reflector 4 so as to obtain the light source excellent in light condensing ability in the case of using a reflector having light condensing characteristic as the reflector 2. |
