The heat exchanger comprises two rows of tubes (10) each having a body (14) and an end (16). A plate manifold (20) has two rows of holes (22) into which the tubes are grouped in pairs so that the bodies of tubes of a pair are side by side. Their ends are received in two adjacent holes in the manifold plate. The two adjacent holes are surrounded by a common flange (30) which is connected through a widening out to the manifold plate. This obtains two opposite regions (36) belonging respectively to the ends of two tubes and enables simultaneous force fitting of the tube ends, prior to their brazing to the manifold plate. The manifold plate has a top wall with two slopes (24) which are connected along a ridge extending between the two rows of holes. The common flange surrounding adjacent holes is delimited by a truncated wall (32) having a variable height which is a maximum in the guide zones (36) and a minimum in the region of the ridge.
