PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a self-charging/discharging characteristic, while ensuring a practical charging/discharging cycle life, by using an electrolyte wherein polyethylene oxide and/or polyvinyl pyrolidone is dissolved. SOLUTION: A polyethylene oxide and/or polyvinyl pyrolidone of 10-1000ppm is dissolved in an alkaline electrolyte composed of mixed liquid of sodium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide, and potassium hydroxide. An electrode plate group 5; obtained by laminating a positive electrode 2 containing a nickel compound, a separator 3, and a negagive electrode 4 containing hydrogen storage alloy to be spirally wound; is housed, and also the alkaline electrolyte is injected in a bottomed cylindrical vessel 1. |
