PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the particle size conveniently and accurately by holding a spherical particle to be measured between a pair of electrodes under a predetermined pressure, measuring the electrical resistance between the electrodes, and then determining the particle size according to a predetermined relationship between the particle size and electric resistance. SOLUTION: An upper movable electrode 7 is disposed oppositely to a lower fixed electrode 3 through a horizontal arm member 5 while being insulated electrically on a measuring table 1 and the electrode 7 is provided with a weight pressure means 9. A hard plastic spherical particle W to be measured has diameter of about 10μm and the surface thereof is coated with gold by about 50nm. The particle W is held between the forward end faces 3a, 7a of electrodes 3, 7 while being applied with a constant pressure of about 30g through means 9. Under that state, electrical resistance between the electrodes 3, 7 is measured by a resistance measuring means 11, a constant current circuit 13, and a voltmeter 15. Subsequently, the diameter of particle W is determined with reference to the correlation data between the particle size and electric resistance stored in a data processing means. According to the method, quality control of fine particle requiring accurate particle size can be performed well.
