Faster crossover reel winder with fewer traversing thread run-backs

A winding apparatus for a textile machine producing crossover reels has a thread guiding drum and a guiding device (15) with variable position forming a thread traversing triangle (10) start point (9), i.e. a thread discharge opening (16) arranged in the guiding device to optimise the triangle for the type of guiding drum suitable for the parameters special to the yarn. The coordinates (X, Y, Z) of the discharge opening's installed location are matched specially to the drum type in use at the time.
