A curable resin composition comprising 5 to 90 % by weight of a dithiol having a diphenyl sulfide skeleton, 10 to 95 % by weight of a compound copolymerizable with the dithiol, and 0 to 40 % by weight of a monomer having two or more thiol groups as the monomer component; another curable resin composition comprising 5 to 100 % by weight of a derivative of the above dithiol, 0 to 95 % by weight of a compound copolymerizable with the derivative, and 0 to 50 % by weight of a monomer having two or more thiol groups as the monomer component; and resins made from these compositions. The compositions are excellent in curing characteristics and have high refractive indexes and high Abbe numbers in spite of their low specific gravities, so that they are extremely useful not only in the optical field but also as coating materials, adhesives, sealants, and so on. |
